Wakeboarding is the perfect summer translation of snowboarding. You get a hardcore adrenalin-spiked run while training your entire body. But having a wakeboard is going to be beneficial if you also practice kiteboarding, surf, SUP or similar sports. It's perfect if you don't have time to skip to the seaside. In most of the big cities like Sofia, there is at least one wakeboard park that you can visit before or after work.
Why you should buy a wakeboard now.
Wakeboarding will train your entire body in a particular, tension-centred way. Your arms, shoulders, core muscles and legs will get a heavy-duty workout in just 10-minute spam. But besides the excellent conditioning training, wakeboarding will give your muscles an explosion. This translates as more air time on the kickers and better landings. This definite resistance will strengthen your body and improve your physic. Of course, using a wakeboard will better your balance and focus while you have high-speed fun. It's a complete win-win for you.
What sort of wakeboard are you getting?
There are two very different types of boards. This is so because there are two different sports: wakeboarding and wakesurfing.
On the wakeboard, you're wearing wake boots strapped with bindings to the board. Similar to snowboarding, with the wakeboard, you can perform tricks such as ollies, spins, grabs, twists and more. Actually, many who practice snowboarding will also try out wakeboarding. Wakeboarding is practised in a wake park where you're pulled by a rubber rope that you hold.
Wakesurfing, on the other hand, is performed in open waters where you are pulled by a motorboat. But not only this, you aren't strapped to the wakesurf board and can move freaky like on a surf. The size of this board is a lot bigger compared to the wakeboard, also heavier and pointy. There is the skim style wakesurf board that is shorter, but if you know what it is, you probably know a lot more about the sport than there is written in the text.
Another difference between the two sports is the rope's length. In wakeboarding, it is longer, so you have a margin to perform jumps and such. Also, in wakesurfing, you can lose the rope and use the waves generated by the boat in front of you.
When it comes to what exact wakeboard you need, there are many specs such as your size and weight, experience level and so on. The best way to choose a wakeboard is to come on down to our kite shop, and we'll help you get the best for you. Did we mention we serve free beer to customers?
