SUP boards are your favourite way to have fun in the water even if you still haven't tried yet.
What are we talking about and why SUPs are so cool?
The SUP board or if you have the time to say its full name - stand-up paddleboard - is a perfect combination between fitness, leisure and adventure. This novelty board looks like an enormous surfboard that has exchanged the big waves for a big paddle. Anyhow, our growing love for this paddleboard comes from its versatility. You can do practically anything on it, except run away from your problems. The SUB is suitable for long travels, short training sessions; there are SUPs for fishing, yoga and racing. Paddling on a SUB board will strengthen your core muscles, improve your balance and do a lot more for your body's fitness while making you look cool because you're standing up in the water. (what's up with that!)
Different kinds of SUP boards and what can you get out of each type
When you're in the market for a SUP board, you can go in many directions. As we mentioned before, different SUP activities insist on different kinds of paddleboards. While there is the decision between solid or inflatable SUP, which we'll discuss another time, you have to choose your board depending on your level of practice and for what purpose you'll be paddling it.
All-around SUPs - these are stable, wide and easy-to-manoeuvre boards that are perfect for beginners. They will chop flat water, hold up to some waves and are forgiving as mother Terase. We recommend that, if you're not familiar with the sport, to grab one of these.
Yoga SUP - these boards are wide and sturdy so you can do a perfect upward dog. They will hold you stable above water while you count your breath into nirvana.
Fishing SUP - well, you guessed it - these are the same paddle birds as the previously mentioned. They are wide enough for all of your fishing equipment and stable enough for when the big one bites the hook you have the ground, or should we say the board, to pull it out.
Touring paddleboard - these are used for long-distance and racing. These kinds of SUPs are narrow and long so you can get more legends out of fewer paddles. They are not so stable but are extremely fast and light.
Inflatable SUPs - because the interest here is vast, we have arranged a separate page dedicated to these ones. There you'll find explanations and a wide variety of inflatable paddle boards.
All right, that will be it. Hope you have found, added to the basket and purchased your SUP. Don't forget the paddle and the life vest - we have these too. Also, if you still have questions about SUPs, come and visit us in our kite shop. We'll help you pick your paddleboard and buy you a draft beer.
