What kiteboarding kites you'll find with us?
There are many different types of kites in the sport. They come in many shapes and sizes. Inflatable kites are the predominant type compared to foil ones; however, in recent years, there have been hybrid models implementing the best from both worlds.
Inflatable kites are the ones in which you have to pump air, usually in the leading edge where there is a bridle.
There are about three specific kite shapes that cover most of the inflatable kite range. Keep in mind that to every shape, there is a hybrid one.
Bow kite - this is the most versatile kind that can handle a wide range of wind. If you're looking for an all-round kiteboarding kite, this probably will suit you best. The hybrid bow kite has better unhooked performance, turns quicker and is overall a better buy for kiteboarders looking to advance.
C kite - this is the first kite that was used in the sport. A C kite sits super deep in the wind window, giving it a much smaller wind range than any other style of kite. Because of this, the C kite is unfamous for most of the accidents in the sport. Of course, there is a hybrid version. With hybrid C kites, there's more depower, more accessible upwind drive and a broader wind range. It is the kite to buy if you are looking for more air time. And if you are looking for that, you probably have some 40-50 rides in your kite lifetime.
Delta kite - it resembles the C kite, but it's easier to invert.
The inflatable kite is good, but foil is king.
Foil kites - these kites have no leading edge and the cells fill up with passing air. That is why they are harder to launch, control and land - yes, these are the ones that you are training to ride. They can get upwind and downwind. Alose foil kite is the snow kite so, if you are looking to use it in summer and in winter, that is your kite.
All right, hope this piece helped you get a better idea of the different kiteboarding kites. If it's still foggy, come on down to our kite shop, where, you guessed it, we'll explain, demonstrate and explain some more everything that is kiteboarding.
